The Position: Strategic Information Technology and Security Advisor
Are you a strategic technology leader who can help clients connect information technology, cybersecurity, and risk management to real business goals? Kalmer Solutions is looking for a Strategic Information Technology and Security Advisor to join our team.
In this senior, client-facing role, you will serve as a trusted partner to clients, helping them make informed decisions about technology, security, compliance, and long-term planning. This position is focused on strategy, leadership, and proactive guidance. You will deliver virtual Chief Information Officer and virtual Chief Information Security Officer services, lead recurring strategic engagements, and help clients translate technical challenges into clear business decisions.
Success in this role requires strong experience in information technology and cybersecurity, confidence in executive-level conversations, and the ability to guide clients through risk, resilience, and future growth with clarity and professionalism.
key responsibilities
- Serve as primary strategic contact for assigned clients
- Lead recurring IT management and strategic planning meetings
- Facilitate quarterly IT committee meetings
- Conduct and review risk assessments
- Provide guidance on vendor risk management
- Assist clients with security framework alignment (NIST, CIS, etc.)
- Deliver board-level cybersecurity training
- Assist with IT and security related policies and procedures
- Provide guidance with business continuity/incident response planning
- Conduct disaster recovery tabletop exercises
- Develop and maintain IT strategic plans
- Assist with managing IT budgets
- Advise on infrastructure, cloud, and security efforts
required qualifications
- 5-10+ years of experience in IT, cybersecurity, or consulting roles
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks
- Experience with risk assessments, policy development, and compliance
- Proven ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audience
- Experience leading client-facing meetings at an executive level
- Strong documentation and presentation skills
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with a Managed Service Provider (MSP)
- Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, CRISC, ITIL, or similar)
- Experience in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, education)
- Familiarity with current and emerging technology trends (cloud, zero trust, AI, etc.)
